Coscom Entertainment Signs on with Hughes Capital Entertainment to Develop its Properties to TV, Film and Video Games

Winnipeg, MB: Indie monster and superhero publisher Coscom Entertainment signs on with LA-based firm to develop its line of monster and superhero books to TV, film and video games

Leading independent horror, zombie mash up and superhero fiction publisher, Coscom Entertainment (www.coscomentertainment.com) has signed a Management and Production Deal with Hughes Capital Entertainment and newly formed, Management Period. The focus of the relationship is to integrate the Canadian-based Publishing company into mainstream entertainment via motion picture, interactive/videogame, and television mediums. Some of Coscom’s flagship titles such as The War of the Worlds Plus Blood, Guts and Zombies by H.G Wells and Eric S. Brown and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Zombie Jim by Mark Twain and W. Bill Czolgosz are coming out under Simon and Schuster’s Gallery Books imprint later this fall. Standout titles like Alice in Zombieland and World War of the Dead will be the immediate focus of the HCE development team.

Hughes Capital Entertainment is currently negotiating a DVD deal for some of the titles, developing some as larger features, and focusing on top seller Zombie Fight Night as the break out video game title. “What’s better than playing a first person fighter where zombies, werewolves, vampires, samurai, kick boxers, robots, and superheroes like Axiom-man all battle it out to the death?” says HCE President/Producer Patrick Hughes.

Coscom Entertainment joins HCE and Management Period’s already impressive talent and corporate list of clients which includes best-selling authors, top screenwriters, show creators, top musicians, and directors.

Horror film to be released nationwide on October 1

Pittsburgh, PA – September 2, 2010 – Horror Realm Convention is pleased to announce that it has been selected by New Films International to screen a sneak preview of the new horror film Chain Letter.  The preview will take place on September 18, 2010 at 2 PM.  The film will be released nationwide on October 1.

The film tells the tale of six friends who receive a mysterious chain letter via text messaging and in their email accounts from a maniac.  With a warning that if they break the chain they will lose a life, the seemingly harmless email turns deadly when one by one the friends that do not forward the chain letter are hunted down and gruesomely killed by horror’s newest villain, the Chain Man.
Chain Letter features a great ensemble cast led by stunning Tinsel Town ingénue Nikki Reed (Twilight). A terrifying horror film that will leave audiences wondering if modern technology is as safe as we think it is, Chain Letter was created by Deon Taylor Enterprises and produced in association with the resoundingly successful Saw franchise.

In addition to Reed, the film stars Michael J. Pagan (How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Nite Tales), Noah Segin (Deadgirl), Matt Cohen (Boogeyman 2), Cody Kasch (Desperate Housewives), Betsy Russell (Saw III, Saw IV), Cherilyn Wilson (90210), Brad Dourif (Alien, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), Keith David (Crash, Barbershop), with Michael Bailey Smith (The Hills Have Eyes) as the killer.

DENIS THEATRE FOUNDATION REACHES AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE BUILDING

Mt. Lebanon, Pa., September 1, 2010 –  The Denis Theatre Foundation Board of Directors announced today that it has signed a Sales Agreement with the current owners of the Denis Theatre, D. and Neeta Raja, to purchase the landmark building on Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon. This milestone was reached as a result of successful capital campaign efforts that began in the fall of 2009.

“We are thrilled to proceed with the purchase and we so appreciate the Rajas’ willingness to support this endeavor and move us forward as a community” said  Jennifer Smokelin, legal counsel and member of the Board of Directors.

The Denis Theatre, located on the main street in Mt. Lebanon, will be a catalyst for economic development and a hub for cultural activities and community partnerships in the future.

The acquisition of the building is just the first step of this $2.5M phase of the project, which also includes opening the Encore, the first of three planned screening rooms.  To open the Encore in 2012, significant renovations must occur to provide the setting for an intimate state of the art theater.

In a statement, the Board expressed its appreciation for the confidence, enthusiasm and generosity of its donors, who share the Denis Theatre Foundation’s vision for this landmark theater.  The Board, in conjunction with A. L. Brourman Associates Inc., fund raising counsel, is exploring many additional funding sources.  The Pittsburgh Foundation’s $100,000 grant and an anonymous $155,000 Challenge Grant sparked renewed interest, and the community responded on many levels –  financially, with in-kind expertise and with volunteer hours.  In the 12 weeks since the challenge was issued, the foundation reports that it has indeed met that challenge by raising the $155,000 needed.

The project recently received a commitment for financing from First Commonwealth Bank, which will provide additional capital to assist the Denis Theatre Foundation as it begins renovations on the building.

Anne Kemerer, citing family reasons, has asked to step down as Executive Director and will be transitioning to a new role as Project Advisor.  The Board has launched a search for a new Executive Director.
