Saturday, November 28th, 2009

You can’t keep zombies down after Halloween. Back by popular demand, Time and Space Toys presents its annual Monroeville Mall Zombie Holiday Party on Sunday, December 13 from 6 PM to 10 PM.

Admission is free and the party will feature:
• Photos with Zombie Santa – photo package available at the store for $10
• Tours of the Monroeville Zombies themed attraction
• Living Dead Experience motion simulator ride – ride tokens available in the store for $3
• Appearance by Leonard Lies – “Machete Zombie” in the original Dawn of the Dead
• Zombie movie trivia contest
• Prize drawings
• Refreshments

Zombie party goers will have an opportunity to check out the store’s newly remodeled Monroeville Zombies exhibit, which is a celebration of Zombies in Pop Culture. Located in the historic Monroeville Mall, site of the original film, George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, the themed attraction takes fans through a visual history of zombies in cinema.

Displays of movie props and memorabilia are woven into a presentation featuring interactive experiences and zombie gift shopping. The exhibit includes a Zombie Gallery, a model exhibit of Monroeville Mall circa 1978 and a walkthrough of a boiler room mock-up complete with life-sized zombies.

Leonard Lies, who played the iconic “Machete Zombie” in the original Dawn of the Dead which was filmed at the mall in 1978, will be inducted into the new “Maul of Fame” during the party. The Maul of Fame is where zombie film celebrities are immortalized in the tradition of Hollywood Boulevard, but with a zombie twist by leaving “bloody” handprints on the Maul of Fame wall.

The store also carries a wide variety of unique toys and collectibles rooted in pop culture, from classic television shows to modern hits.

Both zombies and humans are welcome to attend. The event is open to all ages, although some of the zombie exhibits (in a separate location in the back of the store) may not be suitable for young children.

Bram Stoker Award Winner Mike Oliveri Launches THE PACK, a New Multi-volume, Cross-platform Horror Fiction Series!

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Evileye-PACK-Winter-Kill-Cover-Comp8

Evileye Books has announced the launch of THE PACK, a new horror series created by writer and Bram Stoker Award winner, Mike Oliveri.

THE PACK title serves as the brand platform for the series of prose fiction books and original graphic novels to be produced by Mr. Oliveri and published by Evileye Books.

The first book to launch under THE PACK platform is THE PACK: WINTER KILL, a novella that blends horror, noir and thriller elements to explore new territories in the werewolf mythos. The book will debut in October exclusively on Amazon’s Kindle and Kindle for iPhone, followed in November by the official trade paperback cover edition for online and bookstore distribution.

The second book in the series is an original graphic novel titled, CHIMAERA, to be released in spring 2010.

Under the terms of the publishing agreement, Mr. Oliveri will write one prose fiction book and one graphic novel each year.

“THE PACK is an offshoot of my fascination with the werewolf legends,” said Mr. Oliveri. “The potential to explore the generational histories and clashes between the family members and the changing world just seems limitless. With my prose roots, I know the themes can be presented in a thrilling, narrative way. But werewolf stories are also so visually rich—especially in their violent attack and battle scenes—that I wanted to explore the graphic potential of my stories as well. With THE PACK series of fiction and graphic novels, I’ll be able to explore facets of the werewolf mythos that have largely gone unexplored.”

Brian Keene, best-selling horror scribe, calls THE PACK: WINTER KILL “a masterful blend of crime, suspense and the supernatural.”

“THE PACK is huge, epic and ambitious,” said A.N. Ommus, Editorial Director of Evileye Books. “Mike Oliveri’s take on werewolves throws out the tired stereotype of the man overcome by the physical transformation and the uncontrollable violent urges to kill and moves the legends into new territory, posing new questions and possibilities. Yet, Mike still delivers the gore and action hardcore horror fans crave.”

Mike Oliveri is the author of the Bram Stoker Award-winning novel, “Deadliest of the Species”. His horror fiction has appeared in critically acclaimed editions of “Brimstone Turnpike,” “New Dark Voices” and “Dark Arts,” among others. Oliveri has also written the comic book limited series, “Werewolves: Call of the Wild” and contributed a short story to “The Phantom Chronicles”.

“Mike Oliveri writes with an audacious and unflinching style guaranteed to punch you in the guts and get you coughing blood.” –Tom Piccirilli, author of “Shadow Season” and “The Cold Spot”.

Evileye Books publishes fiction and graphic novels within the genres of horror, dark fantasy and science fiction.

Evileye Books is a publishing imprint of Pulp+Pixel Entertainment Co., an intellectual property rights management company representing and developing the licensed creative works of writers, artists, filmmakers, game developers and others.

And here’s the dual Warlock and Leprechaun comic press release:

Bluewater and Lionsgate will be developing a line of comic books based on the cult/ horror favorite films “Leprechaun” and “Warlock.” After their successful series “Vincent Price Presents,” Bluewater delivers more horror to comics.

“Working with Lionsgate on this end is like coming back full circle for me. I worked on the marketing for “Leprechaun 4: In Space”, said Bluewater publisher Darren G. Davis. “I loved this little character and have always wanted to do something with him. As for “Warlock”, this was another cult film that I enjoyed, so having this opportunity to partner with Lionsgate again is going to great”

The “Warlock comic series is described as, The Warlock is on a mission to destroy a book that contains a spell which imprisoned six other Warlocks. If the book manages to be destroyed, the dangerous Warlocks would be released back into the world free to cause chaos and destruction. It’s up to a rag-tag group of people to prevent the Warlock from carrying out his plan.

“Warlock will appeal to both fans of the franchise and readers who know nothing about the horror series”, said writer Nick Lyons. The book will be drawn by Jacob Bear and colored by John Hunt. Matt Bellisle will be doing all the alternate covers to this title.

“Leprechaun” will be written by another Lionsgate alum Zach Hunchar, who just finished writing Insane Jane for Bluewater. “Leprechaun” is an immensely popular horror franchise and I’m excited about expanding the mythos. It takes two of my favorite things “¦ Ireland and horror. I’m extremely excited to continue to explore the things that scare me and entertain me. I’m very happy Bluewater chose me for this task.”

“Leprechaun” the comic series is a tale of revenge and mayhem. This is the tale of Lubdan, the king and sole survivor of the Leprechaun. The last of the Leprechauns! A treasure dealer stumbles across his pot of gold and steals it. In this modern age, he finds buyers all over the planet through on-line auctions. Iubdan finds the thief after the gold is shipped to humans across the globe. Unbeknownst to Iubdan, the Cluracan, a war-like race intent on genocide, helped the human find the gold. A new curse is discovered that weakens Iubdan while he is not in possession of the gold and will eventually kill him if he does not recover them all in enough time. He quickly realizes he cannot locate the gold without help. The treasure dealer’s last sale was to a computer expert, who agrees to help Lubdan, in exchange for his life. Together, they race against time to learn of the gold’s locations. Lubdan’s quest takes him all over the planet, across time and space. Battling greed, the genocidal Cluracan and new mystical adversaries, Lubdan must save all life to save himself.

Kris Carter will draw “Leprechaun.” And Micheal Kingston will be writing the 2nd story arch.
