Paura: Lucio Fulci Remembered Volume 1

I think one of the most important ways to remember an artist is to archive an oral history by those who worked with or knew them. Â Paura:Lucio Fulci Remembered Volume 1 is a perfect example of that. Â Instead of going for a straight forward documentary of Fulci’s life and work, Paura(the Italian word for fear by the way) collects short interviews with many of the people who worked with Fulci, his peers in the Italian filmmaking industry, and the actors and actresses who were unmercifully died gruesome deaths in his many films. Each of the interviews is accessible individually so you can pick and choose what you want to see. Â Without a narative, a broader scope of topics are covered giving you a more rounded idea of who Lucio Fulci was.
The DVD also makes for great behind the scenes “extras” in companion to watching most of Fulci’s films. Â Some of Paura I did watch in chunks, like the Peers section, but other times I would reference actors or crew members either before of after watching whatever movies I was watching.
Paura: Luci Fulci Remembered Volume 1 is a limited DVD release of 2500 copies. Â You can get more information or order it at www.pauraprod.com. Â As a Fulci fan, to me, the DVD was pure gold. Â I highly recommend it.
